We welcome skydiving ladies to join us for an incredible event July 12-14, 2013 to celebrate the bonds of women in our sport. Chicagoland Skydiving Center is a strong advocate of USPA’s Sisters in Skydiving program, and hopes to give women of all skill levels a chance to meet new people, jump with great coaches & LOs and have a fun weekend at one of the industry-leading dropzones in the US. We’ll jump all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday and have a special ladies-only dinner Saturday night with a prize drawing courtesy of our generous sponsors. And maybe another surprise in store here and there.
Check out some more information about the event below. We hope to see you there! Please sign up using the registration form. If you have any questions, please contact becky@PROskydiving.com.
The Ladies of Highcomms.com: Melanie Curtis and Carolyn Chow
Melanie calls Skydive Arizona home, and has traveled the world jumping, organizing, coaching and competing. She’s a talented belly flyer and freeflyer and has a passion for helping women advance in the sport of skydiving. On the ground, she’s a life coach and centers everything on helping the people she meets achieve new levels of awesome.
Carolyn joins us from Washington, where she is an LO and coach at Skydive Snohomish and coaches at the iFly Seattle wind tunnel. When she isn’t in the windy tube training belly flyers and ripping it up freeflying, she competes with Melanie on a rockin’ team called Monkey Business. She is a strong supporter of the SIS program and has a passion for building the family of women in our sport.
Chazi is one of the masterminds behind the original SIS event at Skydive Arizona. When she isn’t competing on her VFS team, she’s organizing, coaching, camera flying, or making someone smile with her famous brightly colored socks. She is an accomplished competitive freeflyer and a vertical world record holder.
Aircraft & Facilities:
Chicagoland Skydiving Center is the premiere dropzone in the Midwest. We’ll be flying our Super Twin Otter and PAC 750 during the event. Our brand new facilities include a large hangar with comfy padded packing floor, plenty of TVs for video debriefs, team rooms, private shower rooms, free camping and 24 hour access to the hangar for bathroom and laundry facilities. We do have rental gear available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please contact jason@PROskydiving.com if you would like to arrange gear rental in advance. The Flight Deck Bar & Grill on-site serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks, and has both indoor and outdoor seating. We’ll have bonfires in the courtyard and enjoy live music throughout the weekend.
Friday: Goodie bag pickup at manifest. Safety briefing at 9am in the main hangar. Jumping all day with LOs Melanie Curtis, Carolyn Chow and Chazi Blacksher. We’ll do belly, freefly and tracking jumps and throw some shenanigans in, too. After jumping, SIS drink specials at the Flight Deck Bar & Grill and a bonfire in the courtyard.
Saturday: Goodie bag pickup at manifest. Safety briefing at 8am in the main hangar. Jumping all day with LOs Melanie Curtis, Carolyn Chow and Chazi Blacksher. Belly, freefly, tracking and shenanigans dives. After jumping, ladies-only special dinner and prize drawing. Then, we’ll enjoy live music at the Flight Deck Bar & Grill and a bonfire.
Sunday: Jumping with our lovely LOs until you have to leave! If possible, we’ll attempt an all ladies speed star load in the late afternoon and we’ll fly a two-plane shot if we have enough jumpers.
Please note, there will be a 4-way RW meet going on Saturday at CSC. This is optional for SIS participants. If you would like to put a pick up team together and compete, you are more than welcome to do so! The meet is run by the Mid-west Skydiving League and does require its own fee of $100 per team (4-way + video). We will put you in touch with the meet director if you would like to participate.
SIS Event registration is $40. This includes the event t-shirt, Saturday night ladies-only dinner, three full days of world-class organizers, and entry into the generously sponsored prize drawing.
Every licensed skydiver who has never jumped at CSC before will receive their first jump ticket FREE. Just let manifest know it’s your first jump, and it’s on us! We want to thank you for checking us out, so enjoy your skydive.
Regular jump tickets will be $25. Pack jobs are $6.50. We’ll have a deal in place for experienced jumpers: Buy 10 jumps, get 1 free. So, if it’s your first time here and you take advantage of this package, you’ll do 12 full altitude jumps for the price of 10. We know it can be expensive to travel, so we hope this helps out with the cost.
Where to Stay:
Camping is free on the dropzone, so you are welcome to bring a tent. If you would like to plan to bring an RV, please contact jason@PROskydiving.com for information about visitor slots available with power and/or water hookups. There are also several hotels nearby in our town of Rochelle. We have compiled contact information and a map on our website here.
You can find more information about CSC on our website and Facebook page. Please reach out to Becky if you have any additional questions.
How to Get Here:
If you’re flying in, look for flights that go to Chicago O’Hare (ORD) or Chicago Midway (MDW). Both airports are about the same driving distance away from the dropzone, and most people find it easiest to coordinate carpooling or rent a car. Sometimes, you can find good deals flying into Chicago Rockford International Airport (RFD). This is a very short drive from the dropzone, and CSC will likely be able to arrange a ride for you if you’re flying in here if you give us advanced noticed of your itinerary.
If you’re driving, here are directions.
We hope you’ll join us. Please complete registration by filling out this form and completing payment via the PayPal button below.
